Help Adult Orphans in Ukraine

Orphans are victims of the lack of responsibility, we, adults, demonstrate at various stages of our life.  When orphans reach adulthood, they, again, must face problems other adults have prepared for them by their lack of action and lack of concern.  This is also true for Ukraine.

Since 2014, I have devoted my time as a volunteer with ATO war veterans, adult orphans aged 18+, and homeless animals.  The adult orphans and war veterans are in a continuous battle with bureaucrats, who do not understand their reality.  Now, more than ever, as a volunteer, I understand and feel the harsh reality these adult orphans must face.  This is the reason I am turning to you to ask for financial assistance to set up this Help Center / Halfway Home for Adult Orphans to be located in the town of Zashkiv, nearby the city of Lviv, Ukraine.

Ukraine has 25,000 adult orphans who, after they reach the age of 18, must leave the school dormitory where they lived since childhood.  Although according to the law, they must be provided with a basic apartment, and sent to a trade school to learn some skills, most of these orphans must fend for themselves.  They just have nowhere to go.  They have no job, no skills, no money and no shelter.  Many get discouraged and end-up smoking, drinking, stealing and doing drugs.  But many adult orphans try to find help and to study, but they have to be lucky to find an attentive ear.

This fundraising is aimed at building a self-sustaining Help Center where these adult orphans will be able to find the attention, human care, love and guidance, which they need to enable them to gain self-confidence and knowledge about how to self-manage their life in order to become responsible and empathetic citizens.  This multiple level Help Center / Halfway Home for Adult Orphans will be a self-sufficient halfway home, managed by the orphans themselves under the guidance of an adult.  The orphans will be learning everything from good eating habits, to proper social behavior and self-discipline.  They will acquire social, cultural and professional skills, which they will be called to share with other orphans, the elderly, children in need, and members at large of the community where they will be living.

The Help Center / Halfway Home will be a smoke free, alcohol free, drug free, and arrogance free area.  Children will learn to be community leaders.  They will learn how to build  a civil society through volunteer work and internships.  They will learn the importance of building a harmonious environment through good actions, good thoughts, and doing good on their verbal commitments.

The Help Center will be built  in the nice historical village of Zashkiv located 20 km from the city of Lviv in Western Ukraine, on two land plots of 0.15ha each, which were identified in 2015 on a very quiet street near a forest.  The construction documentation is nearing completion.  We need to raise 504,000 USD to make this project a reality.  Please help us to implement all the work done since 2015.

This Help Center / Halfway Home is very important because it will allow up to sixteen children to have a long-term shelter in a home environment while they study and acquire important life skills.  For other needy children it will be a drop-in center where they will be able to find help and short-term shelter while better living conditions are found for them.  The feeling of despair and helplessness is very destructive when one does not have the strength of character to control it.  The adult orphans need this assistance to learn to cope with challenges  we, adults, have created for them in this everyday life.

PLEASE spare $1/day for 30, 60 or 90 days (one, two or three months!), and donate these $30, $60 or $90 towards the building of this Help Center for Adult Orphans.  There surely must be in this world 20,000 good hearted people to help gather these funds as soon as possible.  We will keep you informed on "Nashe Maibutnie's" ("Our Future") / Volynska Sich page in Facebook https://www.facebook.com/skif11. Financial and progress reports will be posted to ensure transparency.

Do not underestimate this appeal for help because so much depends on your understanding and generosity.  Once the Help Center / Halfway Home will become operational, donors will be most welcome to visit it and spend time with grateful adult orphans, who will show you the many facets of our life in our country - Ukraine.

PLEASE !   DONATE $30, $60 or $90!  THANK YOU !  DIAKUYU !
